Moths are what I call a certain kind of founder. You might be a moth if you're...
1. Quirky with strange interests.
Moths follow an obsessive interest in a problem area or idea across domains. They often collect seemingly random skills along the way that all build towards realizing their magnum opus (a company).
2. Drawn to impact and making money.
Moths want more impact than can be made by being just an artist, scientist, or engineer. They want to solve a problem at its root and be rewarded for it (moths do not feel conflicted about wanting to make money).
3. Discerning and magnetic.
Moths know what they like and why they like it. They care a lot about craft. This clarity pulls talented people into their orbit to help.
4. Illegible for longer.
Moths often experience a higher burden of proof to get large sums of capital due to their illegibility. This is because moths focus more on doing something than being someone. However, as soon as moths make themselves and their work legible, they are valued like butterflies.
I believe moths are consistently undervalued, hence why I started Moth Fund.
